Positively Pets Terms and Conditions, Waiver, Code of Conduct
Students must agree the following before signing up for a class.
Introduction
Our rules are to care for the welfare of students and dogs in our classes. We want all participants to feel safe and have a good experience in class and to be very clear about their responsibilities and ours.
Dog's Health
Participating dogs must be fully vaccinated and boostered up-to-date as advised by my veterinary surgeon. Positively Pets recommends Kennel Cough vaccination cover which may or may not be required by your vet. Vaccinations must be supervised by a qualified veterinary surgeon and not given by dog's breeder, owner or any person who is not a vet or the agent of a vet.
Dogs must not be suffering from any parasite or communicable disease and to the best of student's knowledge has not been in contact with another dog suffering such. Students who aren't sure should get advice from their vet.
Bitches in season may not come to class but students are welcome to come along without their dog to observe.
Safety and Student Conduct
Students need to be aware that dog training is not risk free. Dog training and associated activities have the potential to be dangerous and by participating in them students accept responsibility for any injury to any person or dog, and damage caused by themselves or their dog or dogs as a result of training dogs under the guidance of Positively Pets.
Students agree not to hold Positively Pets and it's agents responsible for all liability for any loss, injury, deaths, or damages to persons, animals, or property arising from or related to any person or dog.
Sutdents will assume full financial responsibility, including veterinary bills, for any and all expenses involved in any incidents.
Students will not touch or handle someone else's dog in class without the dog's supervisor's express permission.
Students will assume full financial responsibility, including for vet bills, for any and all expenses involved in any incidents. Positively Pets strongly recommends all dogs are fully insured, both health insurance and third party insurance.
No student will cause, or threaten to cause harm (physical, mental, or emotional) to any dog or person while using a Positively Pets service. Positively Pets respects equality of access for all and works to provide an environment in which all students feel safe and can enjoy their training. We will not tolerate inappropriate or bullying behaviour in class from any student and any such we observe will mean immediate removal from class without refund. Any behaviour which may constitute a crime under UK law will be reported to the appropriate authority.
Students will follow staff member instructions to the best of their ability. We want students to feel entirely in control of their own dog and will respect the wishes of owners not to allow their dog to take part in any activity in class, no exercise or training technique in class is compulsory. However, this does not mean harsh handling or training techniques which do not follow the reward-based ethos of Positively Pets will be allowed in class.
Dogs will be on leash and under control at all times unless a staff member has given permission for a dog to be worked free. Students will have respect for other owners and their dogs in class and will not allow their dog to interfere with the training of others.
Dog Parkour in a group class is not suitable for dogs who are aggressive towards other dogs or people. Students should seek advice from a member of Positively Pets staff if they're not sure about their dog's suitability for class. We want students to feel very safe in seeking such advice and to be aware that the wrong kind of group interaction for dogs with behavioural issues can make such issues worse, giving the dog an opportunity to rehearse reactive behaviour, so decisions that a dog should not come to class are as much for the welfare of that dog as the others in class. We reserve the right to remove dogs from class without refuding course fees if we believe training in a group environment is not safe for others or is exaccerbating behaviour problems in any dog.
Media
Filming and photographing your own dog and his/her carers is allowed in class, but no images/videos of other class members or instructors without their express permission. Staff will give students similar consideration and only images/video of dogs containing no identifiable images students will be shared without the student/carer's express permission. We reserve the right to store and distribute images/videos of dogs in class for instructional and other purposes for sharing with other students/staff but will not share such without the express permission of the student.
Equipment
Only use positive training compatible equipment is allowed in class and the immediate environment. Students who aren't sure about any equipment or training technique, will seek advice from Positively Pets staff.
Students will carry equipment to pick up after their dog and will clean up after their dog at class and the immediate environment.
People under 16 years of age
Any student under 16 needs to be supervised by a responsible adult.
Young people aged 14/15 or over may handle dogs in class, but their responsible adult needs to be watching and the young person needs to be aware that the adult's decisions in any matter of handling or any other issue is final.
Young between 5 years old and 14 years old are allowed to assist adults in training, but the adult should be in primary control of the dog and be close enough to be able to take control of the dog at any point in training. An adult must be holding the dog's leash in the immediate vicinity of class. This is as much for the benefit of the young person in case anything goes wrong when the young person has sole control of the dog. This is especially important near traffic.
Under 5's need their own adult to care for them in class, ie an adult whose sole job is the care of the under 5 and is not involved in the active training of the dog. Under 5's should never be allowed to touch a dog (even their own!) without the express permission of the child's and the dog's supervising adults.
Refunds
Payment is expected in full before the first session and no refunds or make up sessions will be given if students miss class for any reason. If a student misses a session, they are welcome to visit an equivalent session on another date as an observer without their dog.
We will refund course fees for any cancellation made 7 working days before class is due to start.
